Small Groups

A Small Group is a group of people who meet once a week for prayer, Bible study, and relationship building. The purpose of a Small Group is to develop deep and meaningful relationships in an atmosphere where life changing events can transpire. The groups can also use church facilities. Crosswater Community Church is not a church with small groups but a church of small groups. We have groups throughout the surrounding area and we would love to have you join us for a life changing experience.

Life is not meant to be lived alone. God intends for us to experience life together, and that’s why at Crosswater, we encourage you to get into a small group. Groups come in all shapes and sizes – married couples, singles, men’s, women’s, kids, no kids, workplace, under 20, over 40 – the list goes on! No matter where you are in life, there’s a group for you. Ready to dive in? Find a group that fits you, or start one of your own.

Small Groups usually meet in someone’s home, in an extremely relaxed and safe atmosphere. Small groups can also choose to use church facilities and meet at Crosswater.

We have 3 small group semesters during the year…

  • a Spring semester of February, March and April
  • a Summer semester during June and July
  • a Fall semester in September, October and November

There are several options for each group to consider:

Series developed by Pastoral Staff
The church will provide a 10-15 minute Bible study video prepared by on of our pastors. The group will watch the video and then spend the remainder of the time going over a prepared discussion guide and answering questions about the topic.

C.L.A.S.S. series
The church encourages everyone to take the Christian Life and Learning Seminars on Membership, Maturity, Ministry, and Missions. A video series can be provided that will guide the group through Maturity 201, Ministry 301, and Missions 401 classes. Click HERE to also explore CU Online for more information on C.L.A.S.S.

Approved study courses
Studies should be discussed with pastoral staff member before commencing.

Our Current Small Group Study…

Our Summer 2017 Small Group church-wide 8-week curriculum is titled “From the Inside Out.”

This is an 8-week study, will track with Pastor Jack’s Sunday sermons during this same time period.

Small Groups begin the week of Sunday, April 30, 2017!
Everyone is invited to participate in a small group today!

If you would like more information on being a H.O.S.T. or you would like additional information on small groups at Crosswater, please contact Bob Parr, Adult Ministry Associate, via email at

There is a very brief H.O.S.T. training and information class at the start of each semester.  Watch the Church bulletin for additional information and dates.

We want everyone to know where they are spiritually.  In order to set goals, we all need to be honest and evaluate where we really are.  Our spiritual inventory allows you to do just that.  Click Here to complete the spiritual inventory worksheet!

Is child care available?
Yes, in some cases. Please contact Pastor George, the Small Group Director or your H.O.S.T. if a session is in progress.
Are groups limited to church members only?
No, we encourage attendance by anyone the Host of the group wants to invite. We would hope this provides a means to invite those to Crosswater Worship on Sundays.
How much of a time commitment is required?
Each group will meet one time each week for approximately one hour to an hour and a half.
Can I change groups?
–  It is desirable for members to stay with their group for the semesters but they should feel free to change groups between semesters.
Does it cost anything?
There is no charge for Small Groups.
Does the group do anything beyond the weekly meetings?
That will depend on the group but outside activities, projects, and ministries are encouraged.
Can I Host a group?

Absolutely. Hosts only need to attend a one hour training session at the church. After that they just need to be prepared to:

  • Have a heart for people
  • Open your home
  • Serve snacks
  • Turn on DVD
